In today's fast-paced, mechanized, and materialistic world, humanity has become so engrossed in worldly pursuits and desires that it lacks the time for inner reflection and evaluating its actions. The primary objective of this article is to highlight the critical need for Muhasiba-e-Nafs(self-accountability) amidst contemporary challenges, especially in the culture of social media, materialism, and ostentation. In the light of the Quran,Sunnah, and specifically the teachings of the renowned Sufi mystic Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi (RA),it is clarified that true spirituality and asceticism(Zuhd) do not merely mean abandoning wealth, but rather purifying the heart from hidden carnal desires, hypocrisy, and arroganceThe research concludes that to suppress the rebellion of the lower self(Nafs-e-Ammara)and to stay safe from the trials of the modern era, daily self-accountability and Muraqaba(the constant consciousness of divine presence)are highly essential.Ultimately, the article establishes that collective societal reform is only possible when every individual rectifies their own heart and purifies their intentions on a personal level.
