"FEMALE CRIMINALITY: CAUSES AND PROSPECTS FOR REHABILITATION IN THE LIGHT OF ISLAMIC TEACHINGS — A CASE STUDY OF CENTRAL JAIL BAHAWALNAGAR."

Abstract

Crime among women is a significant social issue that requires a comprehensive understanding of its causes and effective strategies for rehabilitation. This research, titled "Female Criminality: Causes and Prospects for Rehabilitation in the Light of Islamic Teachings — A Case Study of Central Jail Bahawalnagar," aims to explore the social, economic, psychological, and moral factors that contribute to women's involvement in criminal activities. The study also examines the role of Islamic teachings in addressing the causes of crime and providing principles for the reformation and rehabilitation of female offenders.

Islamic teachings emphasize justice, moral development, compassion, accountability, and social responsibility as fundamental elements for maintaining a peaceful society. This research analyzes how these principles can contribute to the rehabilitation process and help female inmates reintegrate into society. For this purpose, a field study was conducted at Central Jail Bahawalnagar to collect relevant information regarding the backgrounds, experiences, and challenges faced by female prisoners.

The study highlights that factors such as lack of education, poverty, domestic conflicts, social pressures, negative environment, and psychological difficulties often play a significant role in women's involvement in crime. It further explores possible reformative measures, including education, vocational training, moral guidance, counseling, and the application of Islamic values, as effective means for rehabilitation.

The research concludes that a balanced approach combining modern correctional strategies with Islamic principles can provide meaningful opportunities for the reformation and social reintegration of female offenders. The findings of this study may contribute to the development of more effective policies and rehabilitation programs for women prisoners.
