Orientalist scholarship, while contributing to the study of Islamic civilization, has often been criticized for presenting biased interpretations of Islam, Muslim societies, and Islamic history. On the other hand, some reactions from the Muslim world have been marked by mistrust, emotional responses, and limited academic engagement. The consequences of this conflict include the spread of Islamophobia, cultural misunderstandings, academic polarization, and weakened interfaith relations. Furthermore, media propaganda and political interests have intensified these tensions in the modern era. This study examines the major causes behind the intellectual and practical antagonism between Muslims and Orientalists, evaluates its social and ideological impacts, and highlights the need for constructive dialogue and scholarly cooperation.
