This study offers a comparative examination of three significant Urdu works on the Objectives of Sharia (Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah): Islam ka Nizam-e-Adl aur Maqasid-e-Shariat by Maulana Amin Ahsan Islahi, Maqasid-e-Shariat aur Ijtihad by Dr. Mahmood Ahmad Ghazi, and Fiqh Islami aur Maqasid-e-Shariat by Mufti Taqi Usmani. The research analyzes how each scholar defines, interprets, and applies the concept of Maqāṣid within the broader framework of Islamic law and modern challenges. By exploring their methodologies, thematic emphases, and juristic perspectives, the study identifies both convergences and divergences in their treatment of justice, human welfare, legal reasoning, and the role of ijtihad in contemporary contexts. The analysis also highlights how these authors address the practical implementation of Sharia objectives in modern Muslim societies, particularly in the realms of social ethics, legal reform, and governance. Through this comparative approach, the study not only evaluates the scholarly depth of these works but also reveals the evolving intellectual trends shaping Urdu discourse on Islamic jurisprudence. The findings provide valuable insights for researchers and students seeking a clearer understanding of how Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah is articulated and contextualized in contemporary Urdu scholarship.
