This study examines rhymes and their divisions, along with the scansion of poetic verses in Al-Basīṭ and Al-Hazaj meters from an applied prosodic perspective.
It aims to clarify the significance of rhyme in Arabic poetry, especially in relation to rhythm, sound, and poetic structure. The research focuses mainly on Al-Basīṭ meter, its key, pattern, usage, divisions, and various forms. It discusses the complete and shortened forms of Al-Basīṭ and explains its common types, such as the regular modified form, the cut form, and Mukhallaʿ Al-Basīṭ. The study also analyzes the metrical variations that occur in Al-Basīṭ, including khabn, ṭayy, khabl, qaṭʿ, tadhyīl, and kabl. In addition, it presents poetic examples with their metrical scansion and identifies the corresponding feet and changes. The research also refers to Al-Hazaj meter, its rhythm, usage, and relation to chanting and musical expression. The study follows a descriptive and analytical method by explaining prosodic rules and applying them to selected poetic lines. It concludes that understanding rhyme and meter is essential for studying Arabic poetry and appreciating its rhythmic beauty. The study recommends teaching Arabic prosody through tables, examples, and practical exercises.
