This research article presents the thought of renewal of Allama Muhammad Iqbal in the context of modern Muslim society through a critical perspective. The study clarifies that Iqbal, by presenting Islam as a comprehensive code of life, sought to liberate Muslims from intellectual stagnation, spiritual weakness, and practical decline. The article particularly emphasizes the concept of khudi (selfhood), which Iqbal regards as the fundamental source of an individual’s moral, spiritual, and intellectual awakening. Through selfhood, a person not only attains self-recognition but also contributes to the formation of an active and dignified society at the collective level.Furthermore, Iqbal’s views on education are presented as a balanced system in which the integration of modern scientific knowledge with religious and moral training is considered essential. The article points out that the current educational imbalance in Muslim societies reflects a deviation from Iqbal’s vision.Similarly, while discussing leadership, the study explains that selfhood, character, and intellectual insight are indispensable elements for effective leadership, whereas the crisis of leadership in the present era has become a serious issue. The study concludes that Iqbal’s thought of renewal remains highly relevant and practical even today; however, the lack of its implementation is a major challenge. If the principles of selfhood, education, and leadership are applied in practical life, modern Muslim society can overcome its intellectual, moral, and social problems and play a positive role at the global level.
