Abstract

This article examines the stylistic uniqueness and poetic contribution of Ahmad Mushtaq, a prominent voice in contemporary Urdu poetry. Ahmad Mushtaq is recognized as one of the significant poets of modern Urdu ghazal who successfully blends classical tradition with modern sensibility. His poetry is marked by simplicity of language, economy of expression, emotional depth, and a reflective tone. Themes such as loneliness, memory, the subtle complexities of human existence, and the quiet melancholy of urban life frequently appear in his verses. Despite the simplicity of diction, his poetry carries profound meanings and intellectual sensitivity. This study analyzes the stylistic features, thematic concerns, and literary significance of Ahmad Mushtaq’s poetry within the broader context of the Urdu ghazal tradition. The analysis reveals that his poetic expression introduces a refined and contemplative dimension to modern Urdu ghazal and establishes him as a distinctive stylistic voice in contemporary Urdu literature.
