THE INFLUENCE OF PUNJABI CULTURE AND CIVILIZATION ON FICTIONAL LITERATURE

Punjabi culture and civilization constitute a significant cultural source in Urdu fiction, deeply influencing its themes, characters, language, and symbolic expression. This study critically examines the impact of Punjabi cultural elements on contemporary Urdu short stories with reference to the selected Writers. Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi highlights village life and the greenery of the fields in his stories. A. Hameed's writings reflect the customs and traditions of Punjabi culture. Khalid Fateh Muhammad's stories describe relationships and family systems as pillars of Punjabi culture and civilization. Rashid Amjad's stories explore themes such as collective consciousness, hospitality, dialogue, silence, and joy and sorrow in Punjabi culture.Mansha Yaad’s fiction reflects rural Punjabi life, folk traditions, and social realism, highlighting human relationships and class disparities. Shahid Rizwan focuses on urban Punjab, portraying cultural transformation, modern anxieties, and the individual’s inner conflicts arising from the tension between tradition and modernity. In contrast, Shoaib Sadiq employs Punjabi culture as a symbolic framework to explore issues of identity, power, social oppression, and marginalization.
