This study explores the rational exegetical approach of Pir Muhammad Karam Shah as reflected in his renowned tafsir Zia-ul-Quran. It aims to analyze the distinctive features of his intellectual methodology and the manner in which he integrates reason (‘aql) with traditional sources in Qur’anic interpretation. The research highlights how Pir Muhammad Karam Shah employs logical argumentation, contextual analysis, and contemporary understanding to address theological, social, and intellectual issues. Furthermore, the study examines his balanced approach in harmonizing reason and revelation, avoiding extremes of pure rationalism and rigid literalism. By evaluating selected examples from Zia-ul-Quran, this paper demonstrates that his tafsir represents a coherent and moderate model of rational exegesis that remains relevant for modern readers.
