This paper examines the domestic, social, and economic role of Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (may Allah be pleased with her), the first wife of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the first woman to embrace Islam. Renowned for her noble lineage, integrity, and wisdom, Khadijah was a successful merchant whose trade extended across Arabia. Her marriage to the Prophet was marked by loyalty, sacrifice, and unwavering support, especially during the earliest and most challenging years of Islam. She provided financial assistance, emotional strength, and spiritual encouragement, ensuring that the Prophet could dedicate himself fully to his mission. Domestically, Khadijah exemplified organization, simplicity, and generosity, maintaining a household that reflected Islamic values of compassion, hospitality, and care for neighbors. Her role as a wife was not limited to companionship but extended to active participation in the Prophet’s mission, offering her wealth and influence for the advancement of Islam. Socially, she upheld the rights of neighbors and relatives, embodying the principles of empathy, charity, and justice even before formal Islamic injunctions were revealed. Economically, she demonstrated prudence, honesty, and strategic investment, setting a precedent for women’s participation in trade and philanthropy. Khadijah’s life illustrates that women can simultaneously excel as entrepreneurs, devoted wives, and contributors to religious and social causes. Her legacy continues to inspire Muslim women to balance family, society, and faith with integrity and devotion.
