Social media has emerged as the most influential communication platform in the modern world, enabling rapid dissemination of news, videos, blogs, and opinions to millions within seconds. However, alongside these advantages, social media also facilitates the spread of religious prejudice, hate speech, and sectarian conflicts. False news, propaganda, and provocative content often spread rapidly due to human psychology and algorithmic promotion, affecting societal harmony and instilling negative perceptions among youth. Islamic teachings emphasize ethics, tolerance, moderation, and patience. The Qur’an and Hadith instruct Muslims to respond to wrongdoing with good conduct, avoid insulting the beliefs of others, and maintain unity and wisdom even in disagreements. Applying these principles online can mitigate hatred and promote constructive dialogue. Effective strategies include fact-checking, promoting positive content, interfaith awareness campaigns, and education of users, particularly youth. By fostering respect, understanding, and informed communication, social media can transform from a platform of conflict into a medium for knowledge, morality, and societal cohesion.
